Description

Rubber-Cal’s Neoprene sheet rubber is a tough synthetic elastomer that is ideal for industrial applications. Sometimes referred to by its chemical name chloroprene, rubber neoprene is a versatile material developed by DuPont in the 1930s. The introduction of neoprene rubber met the increasing demand for a sheet rubber material that could resist chemicals and outdoor conditions. While other rubber materials may degrade quickly under intense physical conditions, this neoprene rubber is designed to endure. Our sheet neoprene is actually a powerful compound made up of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and chloroprene rubber (CR) to inherit the strengths of both synthetic rubbers. This mix of synthetic rubber materials gives the neoprene sheet a moderate resistance to oils, chemicals, and many damaging effects of weather. The solid rubber has a sleek black finish, adding a professional aesthetic to this highly resistant industrial neoprene.
The key feature of this sheet neoprene is its wide range of resistance. Thanks to the unique neoprene blend that makes it up, Rubber Cal’s neoprene rubber has moderate resistance to acetic acids, petroleum-based solvents, and certain oils and chemicals. Neoprene rubber is designed to stand up to these substances that can easily degrade other types of synthetic rubber. This neoprene material is also highly valued in outdoor applications, as it can withstand UV rays, ozone, and damaging weather effects without showing wear for a long time. Though other synthetic rubber types may have stronger resistance to some of these conditions, no other material offers the diverse cumulation of resistance that rubber neoprene does. Our neoprene sheeting offers excellent all-around resistance, making it versatile enough for indoor and outdoor applications alike.
Neoprene rubber is also valued for its intense temperature range and resistance. This hard neoprene performs well in temperatures from -20° to 212° F, which makes it the ideal choice for most industrial applications. High temperatures and industrial machinery are no match for this tough sheet neoprene, which is available in 10 different gauges to ensure the proper fit for any application. This 1/16” neoprene is the second thinnest option available and works best in highly detailed or delicate applications. Different applications may also require varying levels of neoprene durometer. This thin sheet rubber has a durometer of 60A, giving it a hard surface and a moderate amount of flexibility. The 60-durometer neoprene is stiff yet pliable, and works best in highly abrasive applications such as neoprene bumpers or pads. The sheet neoprene can also be cut down and used to make neoprene seals, liners, and gaskets. This versatile neoprene rubber is the perfect material for countless industrial, commercial, and even residential applications.
