Strip Brush Selection Guide

Match the correct brush to the holder to keep items on the belt and to keep the belt debris-free.

Regular upkeep, maintenance, and cleaning of conveyors is critical to keep production on schedule and maximize the lifespan of the conveyor itself. Zoro’s selection of conveyor brushes and brush holders is ideal for cleaning different conveyor components, and preventing the buildup of dirt, grime, residue, and dust.

Matching Strip Brushes with Holders

Conveyor brushes and strip brush holders each have an industry standard number. So, to select the correct strip brush for the strip brush holder, simply match up the corresponding numbers (e.g., #10 strip brush with #10 strip brush holder). The following is additional, helpful information to guide you in selecting strip conveyor brushes and strip conveyor brush holders.

Strip Brush Types

Metal-back strip conveyor brushes feature densely compressed bristles held in place by a continuous metal-backed channel and binding wire. They’re designed to guide and position items on a conveyor belt as they move along the belt. Used for spray, mist, clean, dust, and seal applications, brushes with a galvanized steel backing offer slightly polished finishes, while stainless steel-backed brushes are excellent for use in high-temperature applications.

Crimped Nylon Strip Brush

Flexible Strip Brush

Available brush types include:

  • PTFE: Excellent for high-temperature environments. Maximum operating temperature: 500°F.
  • Horse Hair: Durable, with soft yet stiff texture. Because of the natural properties, they are generally not recommended in higher-temperature environments.
  • Crimped Nylon: Synthetic and chemical resistant. Maximum operating temperature: 225°F.
  • Crimped Stainless Steel: For corrosive environments. Stiffer than brass bristles. Maximum operating temperature: 800°F.
  • Brass: Reduce or eliminate static; won’t scratch other metals. Maximum operating temperature: 500°F.

Strip Brush Holders

Strip brush holders are designed to keep brushes in place on the conveyor. Typically they hold one brush strip, except for double-track holders, which hold two brushes. They can be easily cut to size with a hacksaw, and mounting holes or slots can be machined into the holders as needed for specific applications. Available holders include:

  • Clear Finish Anodized Aluminum: Corrosion resistant.
  • Stainless Steel: For use in high-temperature and corrosive environments.
  • Black Flexible PVC: Conform to curved surfaces and require no mounting holes or slots.

The right combination of strip conveyor brush with strip brush holder can ensure your workflow rolls along without interruption. If you need more than conveyor strip brushes or holders, Zoro has you covered with everything from powered belt conveyors to a wide assortment of conveyor parts.
