Description

Titanium is absolutely immune to environmental attack, regardless of pollutants. Where other metals exhibit limited lifespan, titanium endures. The specific gravity of titanium is 4.51 g /cm3 - about 60% that of steel, half that of copper and 1.7 times that of aluminum. In addition to having excellent mechanical strength (comparable to mild steel), titanium is durable and shock resistant. Its modulus of elasticity (a measure of strain rate) is half that of stainless steel. Titanium Alloy Products: Ti 6Al-4V and Ti 6Al-4V Eli Bar, Billet and Plate .125" (3mm) diameter up to 14" (355mm) diameter Precision ground available, please inquire other sizes and dia Ti 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo Bar and Billet Ti 6Al-6V-2Sn Bar and Billet Ti Grades 1-4 are Pure Ti. Pure Ti is used due to its high corrosion resistance and alloyed because of its high strength to weight ratio Grade 1 - Pure Ti, relatively low strength and high ductility. (Plate heat exchangers) Grade 2 - Pure Ti most used. Good combination of strength, ductility, and weldability. (Piping systems, vessels) Grade 3 - High strength, used for Matrix-plates in shell and tube heat exchangers. Grade 4 - Highest strength pure unalloyed Titanium. Excellent corrosion resistance, good formability and weldability. Used in hydraulic and instrumentation tubing. Excellent corrosion resistance. Used for parts requiring strength up to 400°F and oxidation resistance to 600°F. Applications: chemical process equipment, bellows, aircraft structural, honeycomb, gaskets, aircraft skin, heat exchanger parts. Grade 5 (Titanium Ti-6Al-4V) - Most common Ti alloy. High strength and high heat resistance. Aerospace and Oil & Gas, blades, discs, rings, airframes, fasteners, components. Vessels, cases, hubs, forgings. Biomedical implants. Grade 7 - Superior corrosion resistance in reducing and oxiding environments. (Chemical Industry) Grade 9 - High strength and corrosion resistance. (Hydraulic piping) Grade 23 (6-4Eli) - Greater ductility and fracture toughness compared to Gr 5.
