The Auto Lock mechanism is designed to hold the blade out as it extends, and locks into place with its dual-purpose button to assure that the user gets an accurate reading. The button is also a means to retract the blade offering a smooth and controllable retraction. The shell is encased in robust rubber material to protect it from knocks and drops while offering comfortable ergonomics that are easy on the hand.
